Persian Rug Fringe Restoration
We recently worked on a project involving a nice Persian rug that had some fringe damage and a big tear into the pile. We repaired the tear and rebuilt the damaged fringe. There are several ways to repair a damaged fringe that include binding and, for temporary repairs, sewing on a machine made fringe. A true restoration, however, will involve integrating warp into the pile. This kind of restoration should last as long as the rug itself. It is both aesthetically pleasing, but also structurally sound. When possible, we try to do a restoration rather than just a repair. But sometimes the cost of a full restoration will exceed the value of the rug and in such instances we recommend more simple and more cost effective repairs. --www.traditionalrugrepair.com
