Antique Kazak Rug Restoration

One of our final projects this year is restoring this beautiful antique Kazak rug.  It was damaged along the two fringed sides as well as the two selvage sides.  In addition, it had several worn areas in the center field.  Matching yarns is always an important initial step, but one that if taken with great care can yield beautiful results.  Rebuilding the foundation is the next step, followed by reknotting the missing and damaged pile.  Restoration projects can be time consuming and costly, but they can extend the life of a rug by decades if not longer.  Furthermore, restoration is a way of preserving the past and bringing it forward to the future.  Not a bad way to end the year.  --www.traditionalrugrepair.com
