Restoring A Nepalese Rug

This is a modern rug made by Tufenkian with a simple palette of different shades of blue.  Our client had had this rug for quite some time before it started showing signs of wear in the center field.  Here we are rebuilding the warp, the backbone on which we eventually reknotted the missing pile.  Matching yarns with these simple motif-less rugs is very challenging.  Too much variation from the original shade of blue/grey will call too much attention to the restoration.  Our aim is to have the restored section blend in as much as possible.   This is much easier when designs and motifs obscure the different shades of colors used in the construction.   --www.traditionalrugrepair.com
