Antique Turkish rug fringe repair in NYC
I am convinced that NYC is home to some of the most beautiful antique Turkish rugs in the world. This beauty was brought to us in great need of fringe repair. The rug has my favorite combination of colors - oranges, blues, reds, and yellows. It's hard to think of these colors going so well together except in art, including in this beautiful antique Turkish rug. We built a loom around it so that we could integrate the new fringe into the pile of the rug. This is necessary so that the fringes become part of the rug and are not merely attached to the end of the rug (the latter kind of "fringe" wouldn't last very long at all). Fringes are meant to protect the pile of the rug and are very attractive to pets, kids, and vacuums alike. Therefore, repairing and restoring fringes is important to preserve the pile of the rug. ----
