Antique Persian Rug Restoration
We are currently in the final stages of an antique Persian rug restoration project meant to address some moth damage and extensive fringe damage. We rebuilt the fringes in several areas, as shown above, taking care to extend the warp into the pile of the rug so that the fringes are not merely attached to the rug at its end, but integrated into the rug securely. This kind of fringe restoration is a time consuming process, but one that could last as long as the rug itself. When fringes are merely sewn on, they are much more vulnerable to coming apart from the rug with any harsh pulling or aggressive vacuuming. --
