Antique Turkish Kilim Rug Repair - In Process

 

After cleaning this antique Turkish kilim, we sourced the yarns for the project.  We then rebuilt the missing kilim sections.  I love working on kilim rugs especially because the restoration is immediately visible while in progress.  Pile rugs have to be shorn for the restoration or repair to be apparent, but with kilims, the work is immediately visible.  There is immediate gratification.  I find weaving meditative and kilim weaving to be especially so.  Stay tuned for the final result of this kilim rug repair.  ---www.traditionalrugrepair.com
