Turkish kilim fringe repair

Handmade kilims and rugs can withstand a very heavy amount of wear, traffic, and overall use.  They ground the spaces in which we play, work, and live our lives. Despite the great amount of wear that fine quality kilims and rugs experience, many look like they were just cut off the loom even after decades of use. Where one can often see signs of wear, however, is at the fringes.  This is because these long unsecured yarns are often pulled and tugged on by vacuums, pets, and kids alike eventually causing damage. It is important to repair this damage at the earliest signs so as to avoid the need for a lengthy and costly restoration.  Often, if fringe damage is repaired early, a simple binding will be enough to minimize the risk of unraveling or further damage.
