How do we Rebuild Fringes on an Oriental Rug?
We are often asked to repair or restore fringe damage on an Oriental rug. Repairing fringe damage can take many forms, including just a binding on the fringed edge to minimize unraveling. More thorough repair - indeed, a proper restoration - requires rebuilding the missing or damaged warp as shown in the video above. This kind of fringe restoration makes the fringe part of the rug and is therefore as permanent as a solution can be. It is a time consuming process, but one that should go a long way in preventing damage to the edge of the pile and is also aesthetically pleasing as one can create a uniform long fringe for the Oriental rug.
